Living with Arthritis
Recently we have been working with the Arthritis Foundation and the Minnesota Department of Health to inform our community about
arthritis. According to the Arthritis Foundaiton, there are over 150 different types of arthritis and it is the number one disease in the
nation. Some of the ways that we are reaching out to the community are:
|
SELF-HELP Course: The national Arthritis Foundation Self-Help Course will be offered by AT HOME with trained volunteers from the Arthritis Foundation - call for class times.
This six session course is for anyone with arthritis or chronic joint pain. It is designed to help you learn how to manage symptoms that keep you from doing daily activities and things you enjoy. Please join us, those who have taken the course have found it very informative and useful in their lives.
|
EXERCISE CLASSES: Learn gentle activities to help increase your joint strength and range of motion. The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Course is an exercise program specifically for people with arthritis. Volunteer instructors, trained by the Arthritis Foundation, conduct the class. Call for class times.
At this time the class is free - donations to AT HOME, who provide the volunteers to teach this course, would be appreciated.
|
ARTHRITIS WALK: The next walk is scheduled for May 3rd at Williams Nature Center, west of Mankato. Teams
are now being formed. For more information about the walk, please contact the Arthritis Foundation.
